In this collaboration, the universities, the company and especially the students all win. November marks the end of a four-year collaboration between the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plus.ac.at\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Salzburg<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.porsche-holding.com\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Porsche Holding<\/a>. The collaboration was managed by Porsche Informatik and benefited all those involved.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plus.ac.at\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-4964\" src=\"https:\/\/www.porscheinformatik.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Logo_PLUS.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"174\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The university benefited from interesting applied research with sufficient data that students embedded in prediction, optimisation and pattern recognition issues. Those involved were able to publish high quality scientific findings and the research helped the university in the training of bachelor, master and PhD students.<\/li>\n<li>The student\u2019s work was highly practice-oriented, but they also gained deep insight into successful companies.<\/li>\n<li>We at Porsche Holding and Porsche Informatik have been able to incorporate scientific findings into our data science and machine learning projects and strengthen our in-house expertise in this area. And the network with the university helps us with our employer branding since we can establish contact with students and get them interested in our company.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.plus.ac.at\/ida-lab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4962\" src=\"https:\/\/www.porscheinformatik.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IDA-Lab-Logo-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"217\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.porscheinformatik.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IDA-Lab-Logo-3.jpg 991w, https:\/\/www.porscheinformatik.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/IDA-Lab-Logo-3-768x370.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nOn the university side, our collaboration was \u201cembedded\u201d in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plus.ac.at\/aihi\/der-fachbereich\/ida-lab\/?lang=en\">IDA Lab<\/a>, which is part of the \u201cArtificial Intelligence and Human Interfaces\u201d department. Under the motto \u201cAdvancement through basic and applied research in data science, statistics, machine learning and AI\u201d, the IDA Lab aims to reinforce Salzburg as a data science centre, primarily through collaborations with renowned research institutions and companies \u2013 one of which is Porsche Holding.<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration, which was jointly financed by Porsche Holding and the state of Salzburg, was split into three areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The \u201cSmall projects\u201d area consisted of two master\u2019s thesis projects on selecting relevant data and was completed in September 2019.<\/li>\n<li>In the \u201cCustomer-focused future trends\u201d area, we are working with two doctoral students and researching customer churn and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.porscheinformatik.com\/en\/kundenfokussierte-zukunftstrends-teil-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">time series forecasting<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>In the area of FRIDA \u2013 Free of Bias, Robust, Intelligent Data Analytics, a postdoc helped us with a data strategy project for used car sales. Master\u2019s and bachelor\u2019s theses were also conducted on various other data topics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The current collaboration will come to an end in November. This scientific input has significantly improved the quality of our projects.
